This local railroad connects Yatsushiro Station to Kawauchi Station, 116.9 km or 28. The Kumamoto Prefecture side runs along the Yatsushiro Sea (Shiranui Sea), while the Kagoshima Prefecture side runs along the East China Sea, offering different views of the sea. We especially recommend watching the sunset over the sea from the train window. The train ride from Yatsushiro to Kawauchi takes about 3 hours one way, and there are hot springs and restaurants along the route, so you can enjoy a slow-life railroad trip while stopping along the way.
