The company began operations on April 1, 1988, as the railroad company responsible for the east and west sides of the JR Dosan Line, which runs between the two railroad lines in Kochi Prefecture. The Nakamura Line, which has been running mainly express trains since the days of Japan National Railways (JNR), is responsible for long-distance transportation from outside the Kochi and Takamatsu areas; the Sukumo Line, which was later extended to Sukumo City, bordering Ehime Prefecture, and serves as the western entrance to Kochi Prefecture in addition to transportation within the Hata area; and the Gomen Line, the last local line in Japan, was newly constructed in the 21st century to connect the municipalities in the eastern part of the prefecture. The Gomen-Nahari Line is a third-sector railroad company that operates three unique lines with a total length of 109.3 km and connects people to the region.
