Shigaraki Kohgen Railway Co., Ltd.
Our line is a non-electrified line running in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, connecting Kisegawa and Shigaraki Stations, a distance of 14.7 kilometers, in about 24 minutes. About 2/3 of the line is in mountainous areas where you can enjoy the four seasons, and the train runs strongly along steep grades of up to 33 millimeters. After departing from Kisugawa Station, visitors can enjoy "rice field art" painted from early summer to autumn. The track crosses the approach to Hiun Shrine near Kumoi Station, and the Daiichi Odogawa Bridge between Tesho Station and Gyokkeiji-mae Station has been designated a National Important Cultural Property. With the support of crowdfunding, Gyokkeiji-mae Station has been decorated in a retro style, including the station waiting area and signage. We look forward to your visit to Shigaraki, the ceramic city where "Shigaraki ware" is a Japanese Heritage and where the TV series "Scarlet" was set.
