Echigo TOKImeki Railway (Tokitetsu) was established on March 14, 2015 as the railroad company that took over the management of two parallel conventional railway sections in the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture following the opening of the Kanazawa extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line. Tokitetsu is used by many commuters as public transportation in the region. On the other hand, the "Echigo Tokimeki Resort Setsugetsuka," which has one of the largest views in Japan and is dedicated to "all made in Niigata" from rolling stock to cuisine, the "Naoetsu D51 Rail Park," a railroad theme park opened in part of the rail yard in Naoetsu, Niigata Prefecture, the "birthplace of the railroad," the "J.N.R.-style Sightseeing Express," which offers the nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa period, and the "J.N.R.-style Sightseeing Express. The "Japan National Railways sightseeing express train" is also available for visitors to experience the nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa period.
