Kashima Rinkai Tetsudo Co.,Ltd.
Kashima Rinkai Tetsudo Co.,Ltd.
The Company was established in April 1969 as a joint venture of Japan National Railways (now JR Freight), Ibaraki Prefecture, and companies operating in the Kashima Waterfront Industrial Zone, with the main purpose of transporting manufactured goods and raw materials in the area. The line has contributed to the economic development of the region as a transportation artery in the Kashima Waterfront Industrial Zone, mainly by transporting container cargo. Subsequently, we decided to manage the Kashima Line between Mito Station and Kita-Kashima Station (currently Kashima Soccer Stadium Station), which had been under construction for some time, on behalf of Japan National Railways (now JR East), and received a regional railroad business license in September 1984 and began passenger operations as the Oarai-Kashima Line in March the following year. The line is usually used as a convenient train for commuting to work, school, and excursions, and as public transportation in the region.
