It is a third-sector company established by the investment of Fukushima Prefecture and all 17 municipalities in Aizu, as well as organizations, companies, and individuals. It operates the 57.4-km line between Nishi-Wakamatsu and Ozeguchi in the Aizu Highlands. (All trains between Aizu-Wakamatsu and Nishi-Wakamatsu are connected to the JR Tadami Line. From Aizu Tajima, direct service is provided to Tobu Asakusa Station through interchange with Noiwa Railway and Tobu Railway.) In 2003, the "AIZU Mount Express" began boarding JR Kitakata Station, and in 2005, Tobu Kinugawa Onsen Station, connecting to the Tokyo metropolitan area through short connections. In 2009, Tobu Railway's new express train "Liberty Aizu" began boarding Aizu Tajima, making access to and from the Tokyo metropolitan area even more convenient and comfortable.
